The International Home Of Big Races
As early as 1925, when ADAC Eifelrennen races were hosted on public roads, a group of companies decided to build a race track. Investors gladly came on board the project, which was to be a showcase of German automotive engineering and racing talent, and which in two years gave birth to a motorsport hub on a scale that few had ever experienced, the Nürburgring.The track was transformed, year by year, originally starting out as a 73-turn track built for speed. Over the course of the last 95 years, the track has evolved to where it is today, with the Nürburgring Nordschleife being the world’s longest race track at 20.8 km in length. It’s a mighty feat of engineering and something that could not ever be built again to the same standard — but there’s no need to try and rebuilt it when it’s already here for us to enjoy. For more than 90 years, the Nürburgring has developed into a Mecca for all things automobile, catering to everything directly or indirectly related to motorsports, motor cars, and the driving experience.
The Nürburgring has become a central hub for automotive development, surrounded by the hype of camouflaged test cars and insane lap records. More than 40 companies carry out trials on the famous circuit, including Ferrari, Aston Martin, Jaguar, Audi, Porsche, and many more. Mercedes-AMG transferred most of its Affalterbach employees to a large development centre where the newest AMG performance models are engineered. Porsche uses the Nordschleife for the development of not only incredible road and track cars, but also the future of electric sports cars.

Tourist Drives or Track Days, it’s up to you to choose how you wish to experience the Ring. Season officially starts in around April and lasts until the end of October, where throughout the season there are races to be watched. Car clubs from as far as Japan, England, and even the United States, travel to the Nürburgring to experience the circuit in their own cars, with the Race Community growing all the time, attracting auto enthusiasts from all walks of life.
You can experience it too — it’s a rite of passage for the car enthusiast. For as little as 25 Euros, you can drive a lap of the track at night from Monday to Thursday. Weekend rides are more popular but cost 30 Euros, and for those brave enough to move to the surrounding areas, 2,200 Euros grants residents unlimited laps and endless happiness. You can choose to drive the famed circuit in either your own car or a Nürburgring Rental Car, and when the experience is over, souvenirs such as T-shirts, models, and mugs, are merely a way of taking home a piece of the Green Hell until you can fulfil your promise to return.
The Nürburgring culture is a truly magical one, filled with the competitive spirit of drivers trying to beat the BTG time ( Bridge To Gantry, or the traditional lap record ), hone suspension setups, or improve their driving skills. There are local heroes and legends of the Nordschleife, so if you want to stand out, you need to assert yourself and leave your mark on the Nürburgring forever. How do you do this? 24 Hours Nürburgring
Throughout the Nürburgring season, the track offers a rich range of events, the most famous of which include the 24 Hours Nürburgring, Endurance Race ( VLN Endurance ), Formula 1, DTM, FIA World Rallycross Championship, and the World GT Series.
Regardless of whether you’re at the Nürburgring to work or play, it’s an endless holiday for automotive enthusiasts. During the week before the Great 24 Hour Race, the surrounding areas of the track become one massive campsite. Enthusiasts arrive with tents and trailers, cooler boxes and barbeques, with more than 250,000 people ready to witness the famous 24-hour race. Hotels as far away as 20 km are full booked for months in advance, and everywhere you walk, fans are out and about ready to celebrate the season’s most anticipated race. For these two days, the Race Track becomes an even more special place, brewing its own culture and existing in a universe of its own.

Nürburgring Endurance Series ( VLN )
The 24-hour race only happens once a year, but the Nürburgring Endurance Racing ( VLN ) series takes place over nine stages spread out over the course of the Green Hell season, with each stage taking place exclusively on the Race Track. Each stage is an event of its own, with more than 170 cars competing for the top honours of the championship title. This is competition at its finest, with the reputations of manufacturers at stake, and teams backed by manufacturers such as Mercedes-AMG, Porsche, Audi, BMW and many more of the world’s most prolific manufacturers.
Rivalries are established and loyalty set in stone, but the series is also a way of testing which manufacturer’s hardware will be able to cope the best. Teams like GetSpeed in Mercedes-AMG GT3, the Phoenix Racing in Audi R8 GT3s, Manthey Racing in Porsche 991 GT3 MR, and so on. The VLN Endurance Racing series is a world-class series, with competitors vying for the opportunity to compete in the 24 Hours Nürburgring. Passions run high, with scandal, love, and betrayal all part and parcel of the series. Only the strongest survive, and legends are made on the famous race track.
